Stanley Hotel – Paranormal Experience

I have always been intrigued with the paranormal and had my most influential experience to date in my early 20s.  I went on a ghost hunt with two good friends and ended up capturing what I believe was a pretty cool E.V.P.  This experience, coupled with my curiosity, is what prompted me to write my first novel years later.

So, just to give a little more background, we had gone to a paranormal conference which, of course, included some ghost hunting.  As much as I wanted to believe in the paranormal, I was actually skeptical of experiencing anything.  I had listened to the various talks during the day and had gone on a few tours of the hotel.  On the second day, they let us loose to explore the hotel to ghost hunt.  

My friends and I explored the 4^th floor as the lower levels were crowded. Armed with our ghost equipment, which included video/audio equipment, EMF meter, and even an obelisk (a device that was supposed to translate fluctuations in the environment into words).  It was very electronic sounding in nature.

So, the abbreviated version of the good part (I may write a longer one someday) was that we sat down with our equipment and placed a toy cow and a small flashlight on the carpet floor.  In a matter of seconds, we experienced different anomalies.  The flashlight (fully charged) started flashing and went out.  Our electronic equipment also started going through phases of low power.  We experienced temperature changes and then recorded an EVP.  We thought we could communicate with the spirit because we asked the spirit to turn the flashlight back on, and it did light up.  And then we asked them to turn the light off, and it went out as well. 

I even have some video (poor resolution, dark) I may share someday.  For now, I will share a snippet of the audio.
